I began my photography journey when I moved to Los Angeles in 2009. I lived near the beach, and I had the desire to take a sunset photograph to hang on my wall. I borrowed my co-worker's Nikon D40 DSLR, the base level model, and instantly fell in love with photography's combination of technology and art. My love of photography has led me to places I would have never traveled and introduced me to incredible friends. I love the peace and quiet nature brings, away from the hustle and commotion of city life. When I'm outdoors, I feel connected to my surroundings and it inspires an energy and excitement that lives in my work.
The photo below was one of my first sunset photos. It's over-processed and not the best lighting, but it was exhilarating to take and later edit in Photoshop. After taking that photo, I quickly absorbed as much photography information as I could through YouTube videos, classes, and other people's images. I would take photos of anything and everything. I tried my hand at wedding photography, macro photography, portrait photography, and of course landscape photography. What started as a simple idea turned into a passion that continues through today.
