This collection features photographs taken during a winter expedition to Mt. Fuji, the Nagano prefecture, and Hokkaido island in Japan.
Nagano is famous for its hot springs that both humans and monkeys enjoy bathing in. Japanese macaques love to relax and keep warm in the onsens (natural hot springs) during the harsh winter.
Hokkaido is located in northern Japan and experiences heavy snowfall and temperatures that drop below 0 degrees F during winter. The town of Biei in Hokkaido is known for minimalist winter scenes featuring trees on rolling snow-covered hills. Several of their landscapes have been used for advertising images. Farther south, in the town of Tsurui, red-crowned cranes dance as they try to find a lifelong partner.
Most of this work comes from Biei on Hokkaido, where snow flattens the landscape into something close to a blank page and a single tree becomes the entire composition. The Christmas Tree, the Parent and Child Trees, and the lone trees standing out on the white hills are all from that area.
The collection also includes the snow monkeys bathing in the hot springs at Nagano, red crowned cranes on Hokkaido, and Mount Fuji seen from Honshu. If minimal compositions are what appeal, the Forest and Trees gallery carries more in the same spirit.

The main difference between the two is that the Gallery Acrylic option is frameless and ready-to-hang, while the FujiFlex paper will require matting and framing. Both options will be signed and numbered with the edition and will ship for free in the US.
The photograph is first printed on brilliant FujiFlex Crystal archival paper, then face mounted to 1/4-inch acrylic glass, and finally encapsulated by a 1/8-inch durable backing to provide stability. A rear floating frame is included so the print will be ready-to-hang upon arrival.
FujiFlex prints surpass other printing paper bringing unbelievable resolution, clarity, and vibrancy. Acrylic glass allows the light to bounce through the surface which provides an amazing near 3-D glowing effect, making the image come alive. Combined, you have the ultimate viewing experience.

FujiFlex paper is the perfect companion for landscape photography. The paper features polyester-based silver halide material to yield a high gloss print with rich tones, superb clarity, and deep contrast.
This print option will need to be matted and framed prior to being hung on the wall. Print sizes over 40-inches will be shipped in a tube.
